During the first half of May, we went on a family hike to a new region of Malaga province, Todd and Drion had a weekend together, and Parker and Todd went on a field trip to the neolithic Dolmens of Antequera.

The other rail line from the city that we haven't traveled before. Off to Pizarra!

Walking through Pizarra from the train stop

to the trailhead

Cool caves and giant crevices on the trail

It's warmer in the Gaudalhorce valley, but most of the trail was shady.

The cliffs of these hills have remnants of ancient peoples.

Hey down there boys!

It was a great family day trip adventure.

The following weeked Amber and Parker went to Paris while Todd and Drion had some fun at home. We went to his favorite arcade for some classic skeeball, air hockey, pinball and other fun games before hitting the cotton candy machine.

Almost finished that whopper.

Playing at a friends home...

...and swimming in their pool. Drion loved his weekend with daddy and friends.

See the head facing up behind the rows of olive trees?

The Antequera museum.

Three cavernous mounds, some parts used as burial chambers at different times, were contrstructed between 5500 and 4500 years ago, aligned with the path of the solar equinox and other local landmarks. It reminded me of Newgrange in Ireland.

The ceiling stones were massive.

This deep well was only recently discovered.

Petroglyphs of 3 crosses were probably carved by early christians who used this chamber as a place of gathering or worship while the carving on the far left with the circle is a symbol of the original builders of these dolmens.

This 3rd mound is 1 km away from the other 2, and built about 1000 years later with a different architecture style.

Parker went on a field trip with his class to this site on the same day Todd also visited.

There is so much ancient history in southern Spain, and still more currently being discovered.
